What does the timeline look like when working with Oakridge?
Our cabinets take roughly 6 weeks to produce with a few weeks required for our design and selection meetings.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes. We’ll start with gathering your information and will either need to come by for a short site measure to get dimensions or if you have an electronic copy of your plans we’ll work off that. We then put together an initial layout and quote for you. These initial plans are typically close but not yet perfect. They become perfect with your input when you visit us at our showroom to finalize the plans.
What types of custom cabinetry and millwork do you specialize in?
We specialize in custom frameless (European style) cabinetry. Our cabinetry is designed and installed to fit your space perfectly and can incorporate whatever style you prefer - modern, transitional or traditional.
How can I request a quote for custom cabinetry or millwork?
Do you offer design consultations for custom projects?
Absolutely. Our design team will work with you to bring your vision to life. Once the layout has been confirmed we work with you to select all the best finishes including door style, cabinet colour or wood species and stain, countertops, hardware, and more. It’s a fun process but can also be overwhelming so it's nice to work with our team to help guide you and we can break this down into a couple of appointments if needed.
What wood/material options are available for custom cabinetry?
We offer a variety of materials to choose from- with many door styles available in MDF, maple, oak, cherry, white oak and walnut.
We also offer a variety of accessories to include in your kitchen like pull-out garbage cans, drawing inserts, tray dividers, and more.
No kitchen is complete without beautiful countertops and hardware. We offer a large selection of quartz, porcelain and laminate countertop options and have a great variety of cabinet hardware (pulls and knobs) to complete your desired look.
Can you create custom pieces to fit specific room dimensions?
Yes, aside from custom kitchens and vanities we also can design custom pieces like cabinets, buffets and entertainment units. Built-in cabinetry in a mudroom or around a fireplace is also a great addition to any home.
All our cabinets fit your specific room and are built around your home's structure and appliances perfectly. Our team reviews all the details to ensure all dimensions are accounted for.
How long does it typically take to complete a custom cabinetry or millwork project?
Generally, we are looking at roughly 2 ½- 3 months from start to finish. A few weeks are required to confirm layout and design details as well as pick finishes.
From there we’ll need to take a final site measure (to account for any structural changes), this happens around 7 weeks before your installation date. From there your job will then enter production and takes roughly 6 weeks to build.
Installation takes a few days depending on the size of the project. There is often a follow-up visit required to ensure all details are perfect. Once lower cabinetry is installed the measurements are taken for countertops which take an additional couple of weeks.
Do you provide installation services for your custom products?
Yes. Installation is included in our price and we have a team of professional installers that are amazing at their trade.
Some trade partners or out-of-town jobs request to arrange their installation, in which case we can adjust our pricing accordingly.
What is the process for ordering and designing custom cabinetry?
Check out the Our Process section to learn more.
Can I choose my own hardware and finishes for the custom pieces?
Yes. We have tons of hardware options to choose from. Select from our standard stains or painted finishes or we can look at colour & stain matching to existing cabinets, flooring, or elements within your home.
Our price includes an allotted amount for cabinet hardware (knobs and pulls) and we partner with Top Knob, Richelieu and Bereson to bring you the best quality and styles in hardware.
What information do I need to provide for an accurate project estimate?
At the estimate/quoting stage, we’ll work off either our site measurements or your standard house plans to produce an initial layout and quote. Once we get further along in the process we will need appliance specs, and a final measurement taken to ensure everything is accurately accounted for.
Do you work with architects or interior designers on custom projects?
We love working with architects and interior designers to bring your visions to life. Often the fine detail and determining cost allotments of custom cabinetry can be overwhelming so let's connect and we can do some of the heavy lifting.
What sets your custom cabinetry and millwork apart from mass-produced options?
3 main things set us apart from a mass-produced cabinet option:
1. Our cabinets are all sizes to fit your home perfectly, accounting for appliances, and any imperfections. Often when working with standard-size cabinets you’re confined to a certain size and left with large fillers or awkward combinations of cabinets.
2. There is no limitation to style or finishes- we can create custom paint and stains to match your vision perfectly and if you're not seeing a door style or material within our showroom we are able to source it for you and truly create a custom and unique piece. If you are a vision we’re happy to bring it to life.
3. Service- our service team is always ready to reproduce or rework a door or piece that might not be perfect on site. Our shop prioritizes these items so there is little hold up upon installation and you can start enjoying your cabinetry as quickly as possible. Our jobs are not considered complete until everything is perfect and you're happy with the finished product.
Can I see examples of your previous custom cabinetry projects?
We love showcasing our work on social media. Please follow along to see some of our latest projects.
Do you refinish existing cabinets?
No, we typically stay away from this- this can get expensive by the time it's said and done and it’s almost worth considering the price of new cabinets.
Can we add additional cabinets to our existing kitchen cabinet layout?
Sure we’re happy to produce additional cabinets to go along with your existing kitchen layout, these can be stain or paint matched to as close to the exact colour as possible. We can also get trim to match and with the help of our great install team, it will look that your additional cabinets were there from the start.
I bought a fridge that doesn’t fit in our current kitchen, now what?
This often sends people to our showroom and we’re happy to help. There are a few options to consider.
- We can produce fridge panels along with a new upper cabinet to match your existing cabinets and make room for your new fridge.
- You also might want to consider adding a pantry next to the fridge for additional storage if there’s room.
- Maybe you're ready to jump in with both feet and get started on that new kitchen you’ve always dreamed of.
Feel free to give us a call and we can discuss all the options and pricing.
Can you match existing cabinetry or woodwork in my home?
Yes. We love coordinating our custom cabinetry with pieces you already love within your home. We’d need you to bring in a piece or sample of it so we can stain/paint match and will do our best to get it as close to your sample as possible.
What is your warranty policy for custom cabinetry and millwork?
Our warranty policy can be viewed here.
Can I make changes to my custom order after it has been placed?
A sign off from you will be required prior to your job going into production (6 weeks before installation). Any changes after this point will require a “change order” to be completed and may result in additional charges and changes to timelines.
What is the cost range for your custom cabinetry and millwork projects?
Every job is unique and price varies based on size, dimensions, material selection, accessories and more. We do offer no obligation quotes, so feel free to connect with us and we can get you an initial estimate with more information.
Do you provide 3D renderings or visualizations for custom projects?

Are there any limitations on the size or scope of custom projects you can undertake?
From small additional pieces of cabinetry to the entire cabinetry for large new builds we provide cabinets for all sorts of different sizes of projects.
Can you provide references or testimonials from previous custom clients?
